There is something about climbing wooden porch stairs, and
the quiet of a country summer that stirs an emotional resonance in my mind –
almost like hearing an old song that transports you back in time. Fresh lemonade, the crunchy sound of gravel,
and gentle, warm summer breezes are the stuff of childhood magic and were
instantly called to my mind at Laura and Paul’s gorgeous country-side wedding.
I first met Laura and Paul for coffee in Brecksville – we
chatted a bit about their wedding and what they wanted their day to feel like
and I instantly liked them. I’m a sucker
for wildflowers and my heart will always yearn for wild spaces. This was going to be a good one and I
couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive.
The long gravel driveway meandered around and invited
moments of “Oooooh! Look at this!” as my photographer mind raced with all the
possibilities! There were little pockets
of awesome everywhere, and just like the driveway, Laura and Paul had personal
little touches woven here and there that invited guests to pause, and savor the
story of their wedding day.
As the sun set that day, under the gentle glow of string
lights and lanterns, I watched Laura and Paul twirl softly on the dance
floor. Friends and family stood quietly
on the sides, watching as these two shared a special moment on a special
day. And as the last vestiges of
daylight faded into darkness, we made our way home; adding new memories that
the gentle sounds of a sweet a summer’s evening will forever recall.
