Chasing Light 2013

Tuesday, December 31, 2013
You learn a lot about yourself when you drive across the country.  For starters, I learned that I need no more living space then the backseat of a jeep.  Armed with a sketchy GPS that got us lost, we headed west in search of our own personal odyssey.  Like mythological heroes that came before us, we set out into the great unknown with a pack full of clothes, way too much photography gear, and a greater sense of purpose than I had ever known.

2013 was a year of personal triumph, heartache, mind numbing scenery, and most importantly, growth. As is now my annual tradition upon the changing of the years, I'd like to share with you all some of my favorite photographic moments from 2013.  Some are amazing photos, and some are amazingly personal, but all represent my deeply rooted desire to capture life as it happens.

Charity Design Project

Monday, December 16, 2013
Several months ago I was contacted by Venassa De Vargas, a California interior designer from HGTV's Design Star, about donating one of my pieces for a charity design project that she was working on.  I'm proud to say that the project turned out to be a fantastic success and wanted to share it with all of you.

I'm immensely proud to have been one of the chosen artists to donate a piece to this project.  You can learn more about Vanessa and the PATH Charity Project on her website: Turquoise.

To see images of the finalized project, check out Vanessa's Blog.

Keep smiling,

Frank

Hayley & Brandon {Engagement Session}

Sunday, December 15, 2013
It was a cold morning when I met Hayley and Brandon for their engagement session - the normally bustling streets nearly deserted.  These two were so cool and laid back that at times I felt like I was doing an editorial shoot for a fashion magazine! They had the look and the vibe, but the sweetest thing of all though, was the gentle and loving way they interacted with each other.

Heather & Doug (Engagement Session}

Friday, November 15, 2013

I must confess, the best part of my job is telling the stories of others.  Everyone person I photograph is so unique and their stories so different, that I can hardly wait to see what the next photo shoot will bring!

It was a beautiful fall morning when I met Heather and Doug for their engagement session.  The air was light and crisp and the leaves were awash in the golden light of the season. It was, picture perfect.

These two were so natural in front of the camera – they folded into each others' arms like perfectly shaped puzzle pieces and they smiled with an effortless grace.  For a brief moment I was allowed a glimpse into their love story – a story filled with the passion of the open road, of quiet Sunday afternoons, of simple moments with family and friends around the fire and of a long and comforting love.

So excited to see what their wedding will bring!
